Graduating...

Do you remember graduating High School? Middle School? College?

What changed between senior year and college or College and the "real world"? Was it your friends, where you lived, or how much money you had in the bank?

The most drastic change for me had to do with time. Going from high school to college, I now had an extra 5 hours of my day that I wasn't sitting in class doodling in my notebook. I had freedom, so I thought.

I remember my first day of school at Young Harris College. Class started at 9am and ended around 10:15am. I remember getting out of class and thinking to myself "I don't have another class until 2pm...what the heck am I going to do?" I went back to my dorm and met up with some folks to go throw the frisbee which lasted until lunch and then my next class.

Time is priceless. I remember how bad I managed it at YHC and how if I only had managed my time better, I would have made better grades and graduated years sooner.

I think the problem with time is that we forget how important it is.

I'm going back to school to get my Masters Degree, and part of the reason I'm going back is because of time. I would like to have it before I turn 40 so I only have a few years left. I've coached my sons baseball team for 2 seasons now, simply because I won't have another chance as he moves up in age. I never played baseball so my extent of coaching is coming to a real quick end. We took the kids to Disney World, simply because they're young and at an age they will truly appreciate the "magic". We have dinner together every night and say our prayers together as a family, because it's the only time we're really all together during the day.

Time is precious and we most make the most of it. Stop wasting it doing stupid stuff! I bet most of us could think of a hour in our day that we waste doing nothing productive for anyone or ourselves. We're just simply "wasting time".

James 4:14 says, "Yet, you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away."

We don't have a lot of time on this planet. Think about the people you need to spend more time with and spend time with them.

Think about the things you would like to accomplish and make a plan, set a date, and accomplish them.

Think about the places you want to go, and find a way to get there.

"This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it." -Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The bad new is time flies, the good news is you're the pilot" -Michael Altshuler
