Pain...

Pain...physical suffering associated with bodily disorder. (Merriam-Wesbster)

Yesterday I took the day off from my morning routine to simply enjoy the holiday weekend and catch up on a little rest. It was definitely nice to be able to sleep in, however it came with a little added pain this morning. I'm not really sure why, but as I started running my left heel began to hurt. I debated whether I should continue or just turn around and walk home.

I pushed on and the pain stayed constant. I didn't want to stop and despite the annoying throbbing of my heel, I ran on the front part of my foot and kept going.

Gary Zukav said, "Your pain is an opportunity to learn about yourself." I didn't want to quit this morning and walking in my mind was defeat. So, I pushed on and now am at home with my socks off and my heel feeling just fine!

In life we're always going to have some sort of pain in our lives. Whether it's a physical pain like a bum heel or maybe emotional pain of dealing with a loss of a loved one or a broken relationship, we must keep pushing forward.

Lance Armstrong said, "Pain is temporary, quitting is forever." We can't quit if we are to be successful in life. We can't quit if we are to truly live!

Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Whatever pain you're going through, know that God is right there with you. Secondly, know that God heals. Psalm 147:3 says, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

Whatever kind of pain you're dealing with today, turn it over to the Lord.

Ask yourself this:
1. What pain do I have going on in my life right now?
2. Why do I have this pain?
3. What do I need to do to get over this pain?
4. What would happen if I quit?
5. What would happen if I pressed on?

"Out of pain and problems have come the sweetest songs, and the most gripping stories." -Billy Graham

How is pain going to shape your story today, this week, this month, this year?

(Psalm 23 & Psalm 91)
