Choices...
Choices...we all have them.
Some of us make better ones than others, however we are all living with the choices we've made in the past whether we like it or not.
Choices can be good and choices can be bad.
I chose this morning to wake up early, run, read my bible, pray and write this blog. I feel like that was a good choice.
Reality is every day we make choices...
It starts the second we wake up...
Do you wake up, go back to bed, sleep for another 5 minutes, 10 minutes, hour....
I love this quote by Graham Brown which says, "Life is about choices. Some we regret, some we're proud of. Some will haunt us forever. The message: we are what we chose to be."
"We are what we chose to be"...isn't that true!
If you sit around on the couch all day and never do anything, you're not going to all of a sudden one day wake up and run a 5k. (Side note - Couch to 5k = great app & Free!)
However, if every day you walked a little and ran a little eventually you'd be able to run a 5k.
Here's the deal, the average person makes roughly 35,000 decisions in a day. (source)
That is a whole lot of choices that we consciously or unconsciously make which effect our lives whether we realize it or not.
What choices have you made recently that have really impacted your life? (comment below)
How do we know what choices we should be making?
The Message Bible says in Philippians 4:8 this, "Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditation on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious-the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse."
Whether you believe in the Bible or not, this is some great wisdom as to how we need to be making impactful choices.
Today as you meander through an array of choices, think about such things in a manner of truth and authenticity. Be real with yourself and with who you're striving to be.
You have 35,000 chances today to mess up or 35,000 chances today to make a difference!
What are you going to chose? We are what we chose to be, right?
